Praying for God’s Will

I am reading through the book The Power of a Praying Woman by Stormie Omartian. Each day I have been reading a few chapters and learning new ways to pray. Today, I opened the book and I am at the chapter titled Lord, Keep Me in the Center of Your Will.

I feel like this was so meaningful with the week I have had and the situation we are in the middle of (Read about it here). So, I thought that I would share some information from the chapter:

Four Good Things That Are True About God’s Will

1. Following God’s will does not mean we will never have trouble.

2. Following God’s will is not easy.

3. Following God’s will can make you very uncomfortable.

4. Following God’s will doesn’t happen automatically.

My Prayer to God

Lord, I pray that You will fill me with the “knowledge of [Your] will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding” (Colossians 1:9). Help me to walk in a worthy manner, fully pleasing to You, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of Your ways. Guide my every step. Lead me “in Your righteousness” and “make Your way straight before my face” (Psalm 5:8). As I draw close and walk in intimate relationship with You each day, I pray You will get me where I need to go.

Even as Jesus said, “Not My will, but Yours, be done” (Luke 22:42), so I say to You, not my will but Your will be done in my life. “I delight to do Your will, O my God” (Psalm 40:8). You are more important to me than anything. Your will is more important to me than my desires. I want to live as Your servant, doing Your will from my heart (Ephesians 6:6).

Lord, align my heart with Yours. Help me to hear Your voice saying, “This is the way, walk in it.” If I am doing anything outside of Your will, show me. Speak to me from Your Word so that I will have understanding. Show me any area of my life where I am not right on target. If there is something I should be doing, reveal it to me so that I can correct me course. I want to do only what Your want me to do.

Lord, I know we are not to direct our own steps (Jeremiah 10:23). So I pray You would direct my steps. Only You know the way I should go. I don’t want to get off the path You want me to walk on and end up in the wrong place. I want to move into all You have for me and become all You made me to be by walking in Your perfect will for me life now.

I want my life to reflect this prayer and I want to be in God’s will.

Be There for Each Other

Sorry I am posting later than normal again today. Michael just started a new work schedule and we are both trying to get used to it. I normally have my Lessons in Love posts done and scheduled, but I just didn’t have time to this week with everything going on (Read about it here).

Today I have such a simple lesson that I have learned.

BE THERE FOR EACH OTHER!

This week has been crazy! Michael started a new schedule at work, we found out about the possiblity of adopting twin four year old girls, and not to mention everday life!

Even though we were both feeling a little overwhelmed and stressed and a lot of different emotions, we both knew we needed to be there for each other.

Michael needed to be there for me and helping me to cope with the emotions I am feeling about the possibility of getting these girls, which one day had great chances of happening!!! And then the next day we found out that the chances aren’t the best, but we still have a chance! It has already been a roller coaster ride, and it has only been one week!

So, Michael was there when I needed comfort or when I needed to just talk or anything! He has been there for me this week!

With Michael starting his new job we have to make some changes in our schedules. And I know that it has been hard on him, so I have been extra encouraging and extra loving! Last night I knew it had been a long week for him, so I gave him a massage to help him relax.

It is very important for couples to realize that they are probably the person their spouse counts on the most for a lot of things! You need to be there for them! Whether it is for a high five, a shoulder to cry on, an ear to listen, a mouth to talk, a hug to give! You need to be there for your spouse when they need you!

We Need Prayer!

Hello friends!

Someday amazing happened yesterday that could mean a lot for the future of our family.

My grandmother has had temporary custody of twin 4 year old girls for about 6 months. The mother is pending a sentence that could put her in prison. We were asked if we would be interested in taking custody of the girls.

I am starting to cry while I am writing this because this would be so amazing and such a miracle on God’s part! Finally, making us a family. Which we have been trying to do for 3 years now (Our Infertility Story).

We are only interested in getting permanent custody of the girls. We don’t want there to be any back and forth between us and the birthparents. They have not been able to get their act straight, and we want to take care of the girls for good. We want to provide them with a forever, loving, stable, and consistent home and family! That is what they need so desperately and we can give it to them!

However, they are waiting to hear what the length of the mother’s sentence is before they are willing to let us adopt them. If the sentence is under 2 years they said that they are going to look for someone to temporary take legal custody and it could possibly lead to permanent but could possible lead to the girls going back to their parents.

If the sentence is 2 years or more, then they will probably let us adopt the girls, and soon!

We need prayer for God’s will in this situation. If we are meant to have these girls, then the mom would need to be sentenced to at least 2 years. Otherwise, we will not be able to get them. Please let the future of our family in your prayers!

The mother’s court date is March 16th, I believe. So we have a few weeks to pray for God to do His will through this court appearance and to wait.

Again, I am holding on to the song While I’m Waiting.

Please pray for us! And feel free to pass our information on, we need as much prayer as possible!

While I’m Waiting

I recently found this song on Rebecca’s blog Oceans from the Rain and found it enormously encouraging!!!

I hope you enjoy it! I also added it to the bottom of this blog. It is by John Waller.

Here are the lyrics:

I’m waiting
I’m waiting on You, Lord
And I am hopeful
I’m waiting on You, Lord
Though it is painful
But patiently, I will wait

I will move ahead, bold and confident
Taking every step in obedience

While I’m waiting
I will serve You
While I’m waiting
I will worship
While I’m waiting
I will not faint
I’ll be running the race
Even while I wait

I’m waiting
I’m waiting on You, Lord
And I am peaceful
I’m waiting on You, Lord
Though it’s not easy
But faithfully, I will wait
Yes, I will wait

I will serve You while I’m waiting
I will worship while I’m waiting
I will serve You while I’m waiting
I will worship while I’m waiting
I will serve you while I’m waiting
I will worship while I’m waiting on You, Lord
