Hello friends!
Someday amazing happened yesterday that could mean a lot for the future of our family.
My grandmother has had temporary custody of twin 4 year old girls for about 6 months. The mother is pending a sentence that could put her in prison. We were asked if we would be interested in taking custody of the girls.
I am starting to cry while I am writing this because this would be so amazing and such a miracle on God’s part! Finally, making us a family. Which we have been trying to do for 3 years now (Our Infertility Story).
We are only interested in getting permanent custody of the girls. We don’t want there to be any back and forth between us and the birthparents. They have not been able to get their act straight, and we want to take care of the girls for good. We want to provide them with a forever, loving, stable, and consistent home and family! That is what they need so desperately and we can give it to them!
However, they are waiting to hear what the length of the mother’s sentence is before they are willing to let us adopt them. If the sentence is under 2 years they said that they are going to look for someone to temporary take legal custody and it could possibly lead to permanent but could possible lead to the girls going back to their parents.
If the sentence is 2 years or more, then they will probably let us adopt the girls, and soon!
We need prayer for God’s will in this situation. If we are meant to have these girls, then the mom would need to be sentenced to at least 2 years. Otherwise, we will not be able to get them. Please let the future of our family in your prayers!
The mother’s court date is March 16th, I believe. So we have a few weeks to pray for God to do His will through this court appearance and to wait.
Again, I am holding on to the song While I’m Waiting.
Please pray for us! And feel free to pass our information on, we need as much prayer as possible!

Wow. What an amazing opportunity. I will certainly be praying for your family in this situation, and that God’s will would be clear to you.
Ashley,
I will be in prayer for you today as you wait to hear about the adoption. My sister and her husband have been on the same road as you with trying to have a child. I found your blog through the Above Rubies yahoo email group. Stop by and visit my blog when you have time.
I’ll be praying for you too! We’re doing foster care in the hopes of getting to adopt sometime in the future. The waiting can be hard! I’m 24 and my husband is 26 and we went from 0 kids to 2 under 2 in one day last month! We are only fostering them though, it was supposed to be very temporary….
Check out my blog. :)
I found you on Above Rubies.
May the God of miracles have His mighty hand on this situation! We’re praying…I don’t know if I told you that we have some infertility issues as well, so I am feeling your excitement at this possibility!!
In Him,
Kim
Thank you all so dearly for your encouragement!
It means so much to have you all prayer for us and our journey, that will hopefully end in receiving these two girls into our home!

Ashley, I am definitely praying for you. God works in marvelous ways and is far above our understanding!
Ashley,
Just want to let you know that I am joining with you in prayer. Prayer that God would give you the desire of your heart and a contentment and peace about the situation regardless the outcome.
I just teared up reading your post! I will be praying with you that if this is God’s will for your life, that you and your husband would be blessed with these girls in your family! What an awesome opportunity! Trust in God… no matter what the outcome!!
I just want to thank all of you so much for your prayers. I have been feeling more at peace with this whole situation and knowing that whatever happens will be inside of God’s will.
After talking to the case worker some more, I am feeling like it probably will not lead to us being able to adopt the girls.
But, we really won’t know until the mother’s sentence is made. I am just trying to be realistic so that I don’t get too invested too early.
Please continue to pray for the situation and that we would know God’s will clearly.
