The holidays can be a very busy, busy, busy time…If we let it! Recently I was reading on a
friend’s blog and found a movement that she started that I cannot pass by!
Bringing Holy Back to the Holiday is a movement that will help us to focus this holiday season on what truly matters, our Savior!
I know so many people who get wrapped up in the Holidays, in every wrong way, by buying the perfect gifts for everyone (and usually spend way too much money doing it), attending all the social events they can fit on their calendar, decorating their house better than anyone around them, and so many more meaningless, what seems like competitive acts.
How about this holiday season we choose to act differently! To bring Holy back! As eLisa says, let’s “go through the holiday motions with a passion to share His Savior instead of succumbing to the pressures to perform.”
Bringing Holy Back can look a wide variety of ways:
Maybe instead of pulling out all the holiday decorations, you would only select ones that reminded you of Christ (Like eLisa).
Maybe instead of passing out cookies to your friends and family, you pass them out around your neighborhood with something to Share the Good News of Christmas included.
Maybe instead of spending lots of money of your family, you choose as a family to bless others who are in need of Christ’s love in a practical way this year.
Maybe instead of reading The Night Before Christmas as a family, you read through Matthew and start by learning about Christ’s Birth and share the gospel with your children.
There are many ways to Bring Holy Back, as eLisa says, “It simply means this, sharing His hope, joy, peace, and love with others, instead of catering to the chaos we all know as Christmas.” Are you going to join this movement? What are you going to do differently this year to share the Good News of our Savior?
