By Ashley Wells, on January 29th, 2010 This is a time that I share links to good finds I’ve read on the Internet. Enjoy!!!
This sounds like a great audio study on womanhood.
Do you need to try again during 2010?
There is a secret to having energy. Have passion.
What is grace? Do you have a definition?
Are you a legalist? Or just living your life to glorify God?
By Ashley Wells, on January 28th, 2010 Well, a while ago I told you about the new book we were going through during our Couples Sunday School. We have now finished it, and I want to share some of my thoughts!
Sacred Marriage was an amazing Bible Study. Just to be clear, there is an actual book, by the same author (Gary Thomas), named Sacred Marriage. However, we did a Bible Study that was formed from this book. But, you can be on the lookout for a review of the actual book sometime in the next year, because after doing this bible study I have a strong desire to read the whole book.
Now, this book is designed to be used as a Bible Study for small groups, and lasts 6 weeks. It has a DVD, and then Participant Guides with room for note taking, questions for discussion, and a section after each week with things that you can do at home. I loved the home section of these lessons, because it really helped you to know how to apply what you have learned.
This book isn’t your typical marriage book! It doesn’t focus on all the practical stuff as much as it does the spiritual stuff (The important stuff!). For example, the book’s tagline is, “What If God Designed Marriage to Make Us Holy More Than to Make Us Happy.” And that is truly what this book is all about, how marriage can be a tool that God uses to make us more holy.
I personally loved this book and the DVD lessons that went with it. I found it to really get at your heart, not just your actions!
If you have input into a couples small group or Sunday School, this is a great choice!

By Ashley Wells, on January 26th, 2010 What’s On Your Nightstand? is a monthly meme on the fourth Tuesday of every month from 5 Minutes for Books.
There are several different ways to participate (Click here to learn more about that). I am going to participate each month by sharing what books I have read and written a review for in the last month and what books I would like to read in the next month.
In addition to the following list, I also have a master list of books I have read in 2010. I challenged myself to read 60 books! I update the master list regularly with reviews of the books I have read, you can check that out here. I’m getting a slow start, but I am planning on coming back strong next month!
Books I Have Read since December 22nd:
The Woman I am Becoming This is a very good book for twenty-something women. And I really think that it helps to reach each woman no matter where in her twenties or life she is. I found this book to be encouraging and challenging. Finish reading my review here.
The One-Day Way
This is a very encouraging read that, as the cover states, helps you change your mind set to think “Today Is All the Time You Need to Lose All the Weight You Want.” I was highly encouraged by Chantel Hobbs’ attitude about focusing on today, moving on from the past, and not worrying about the future. As the foreword (pg. vii) states, “You can start your transformation today, because today is the day.”

The New Moody Atlas of the Bible
My husband loves geography and he is thrilled with the additional of this book to our library! He has been using it a lot during his study time and he has even been picking it up to read for fun! I see this book helping us immensely in our personal study and, when we have children, helping us teach them!

Dug Down Deep
I loved how this book helped me to think about these things and realize that I always want to be growing in my relationship with Christ and growing to be more like Him. And the more I learn about Him and His Greatness, the more I realize how much I need Him active in my personal life!

Books I Plan to Read in February:
By Ashley Wells, on January 25th, 2010 As I have been pondering lately about what it means to go deeper with God. I heard this song and thought it was appropriate to share…

By Ashley Wells, on January 23rd, 2010 Recently, I read Joshua Harris’ book Dug Down Deep and it truly encouraged and challenged me in my walk with Christ, here is a quote that I want to ponder further (pg. 44-45):
“God’s attributes are not merely a list of facts and features. They are truths that inform belief and inspire faith. God reveals truth about himself in his Word, not for the sake of knowledge, but for the sake of relationship with us. He tells us about himself so we will put our faith in him, so we will treasure and worship him and not waste ourselves on man-made idols. He wants our souls to soar in worship and communion with him – not rot in the pursuit of sin or waste away in worry and fear.”
